Zen Zomics: One Bright Jewel

Adapted from Dōgen’s Ikka myōju as part of Shōbōgenzō

It was especially helpful to read work from Kōdō Sawaki and Shōhaku Okumura.

I leaned very hard on silhouettes simple because I’ve been looking at a lot of Milt Caniff and wanted to experiment. Even though I feel like I have some more futzing to do on this one, it has already become one of my favorite adaptations.
